Week 4 – Preconditioning

This week was really stressful because my engagement party was on the weekend. Time was really tight and my running seemed to take the lowest priority. Unfortunately, that meant that my total weekly mileage was low and was not good for my last week of preconditioning. In addition to that, my Garmin has been telling me I am losing fitness and I think it’s because I’m pushing myself too hard. I have also been experiencing pain under my knee since my fartlek workout last week. I really wanted to get to a point where I was running the whole time or even the majority of the time and eliminate my intervals. I am worried I’m not going about this the right way because my VO2 max number has dropped from “Excellent” to “Good”. My watch has been reporting too much of my time is spent in the high aerobic time and not enough in the low aerobic time. It suggested I do more low intensity runs to balance out my overall fitness. I’m going to work on incorporating at least one easier run with more walking so I don’t overdo it and end up injured.

Monday – June 3rd

Saturday & Sunday

I was supposed to participate in the Hotlanta 5K on Sunday, but I didn’t have enough time to go and to get to my engagement party in time. I made sure to get in a 15 minutes on the airbike and 12 on the rower to get in some cardio beforehand. The party was awesome and although I’m sad I missed the race it was worth not messing up the party. Next race will be my RunDisney virtual 5K and the Peachtree. I am going to try and start increasing my mileage in anticipation for the 10K.
